How can I receive the USB ports on my monitor work?

I a short time ago got a strange DELL. The monitor has 4 usb ports on it but they don't register anything that's plugged into them.

How can I trade name them register?

I do not have a flat panel monitor, but I guess adjectives that your monitor acting is like a USB Hub. There should be a input USB port that you will entail to connect to your Computer. As soon as you do that your computer should detect something like "USB Hub" hardware.
